There were over 100 ostriches on the ostrich farm. Manager Cawston of
the farm planned an extensive display for the parade, but a Methodist
farmer misunderstood what he was advertising and had him arrested. While
Cawston was explaining the situation to the guard, the parade started.
Some of the female ostriches are laying eggs. They will layevery
other day for over two months. An ostrich egg is equal to three
dozen hen eggs and is valued at $25.00. Each egg requires forty days to
hatch. The female bird sits on the egg from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00
p.m., and the male sits from 4:00 p.m until 9:00 a.m.
