Ostrich Farm

Here's your ticket . . .

There were over 100 ostriches on the ostrich farm. Manager Cawston of the farm planned an extensive display for the parade, but a Methodist farmer misunderstood what he was advertising and had him arrested. While Cawston was explaining the situation to the guard, the parade started.

Some of the female ostriches are laying eggs. They will layevery other day for over two months. An ostrich egg is equal to three dozen hen eggs and is valued at $25.00. Each egg requires forty days to hatch. The female bird sits on the egg from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., and the male sits from 4:00 p.m until 9:00 a.m.

From the TMI Program for the week of August 21.

"Mr. Pearson, manager of the Ostrich Farm, is training one of his finest birds, which he has named Admiral Dewey, to drive, and he will soon be prepared to offer the ladies a ride in the Ostrich carriage, which no doubt will relieve somewhat the demands upon Montgomery, Ward and Co's horseless electric carriage. A carriage ride behind an untrained ostrich would certainly be exhilarating."The wagon was made by the Studebaker Brothers. The wagon was made by the Studebaker Brothers.
