Youth Application (under age 19) Adult Application (19 and older)
Library Staff Assistant Position: Volunteer Where: 3rd Floor, W. Dale Clark Library- 215 S. 15th St. When: 4 hours a week with a 6 month commitment. Flexible daytime hours between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Duties include: Picking up books from reading areas, separating magazines and filing old copies in storage boxes, and placing security strips in the new magazines. Bring books from the circulation department and place on sorting shelves. Refill the display shelves and various other small projects as assigned. Qualifications: Able to sort materials into alphabetical and numerical order.

Indexers Position: Volunteer Where: 2nd Floor, W. Dale Clark Library - 215 S. 15th St. When: 4 hours once a week, Monday through Friday. Flexible daytime hours between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Length of Commitment: 12 months Duties Include: Assist staff in withdrawing documents from Kardex file, filling withdrawn documents and shelving, typing lists in a set format into Microsoft Word. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Typing speed is not as important as accuracy. Training will be provided by a staff member.

Special Events Assistant Position: Volunteer Where: Various locations throughout Omaha When: As needed and as availability allows. Many of our Special Events are on evenings and weekends. Most events are 2-4 hours long. Length of commitment: No minimum Duties Include: Assist staff at special library events, such as author visits, receptions, Summer Reading Program parties, gallery exhibits. Assist staff at Library publicity tables at community fairs, festivals, cultural and entertainment events and conferences. Volunteers will receive an email from the Volunteer Coordinator about the special event; if they are able to assist, they can reply. Qualifications: Enthusiasm for the Omaha Public Library; friendliness; ability to interact with the public. For some events, experience working with children is preferred.
