Poetry workshops to prepare teens for slam competition
August 02, 2013
Many believe that teens speak a language all their own. While this dialect isn’t always easily understood, several poets, writers and performers celebrate teens’ unique forms of self-expression. Omaha Public Library invites teens in grades 8-12 to express their creativity through a series of poetry workshops. Coaches and experts from Louder Than a Bomb will be available to help participating teens with poetry selections and performances. Workshops will lead up to a live poetry competition sponsored by Omaha Public Library – the Teen Poetry Bash on December 14, where teens can win cash prizes for winning performances. Workshops will be held the second Saturday of each month at 1-2:30 p.m. through November. Registration is requested at or by calling the hosting branch.
