|Job seekers connect with local businesses at library job fair|

Omaha Public Library (OPL) and AARP are pleased to announce the 12th annual John Bernardi Job Fair. The event is named in memory of former Charles B. Washington Branch manager John Bernardi who was instrumental in its implementation. All job-seekers are welcome to participate on Friday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Charles B. Washington Branch, 2868 Ames Ave.
Employers are expected to offer job opportunities in a variety of fields. The list of employers includes City of Omaha; CON-E-CO; Convergys; Gallup; Home Instead Senior Care; Menards; Metropolitan Community College; Nebraska Methodist Health System; Omaha Steaks; Omaha World-Herald; Papio Transport Services; SarahCare Adult Day Services, Inc.; U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; Visiting Nurse Association; and more.
“The John Bernardi Job Fair is for everyone,” said Joanne Ferguson Cavanaugh, manager of the Charles B. Washington Branch. “North Omaha residents in particular will have the convenience of job hunting in their own backyard.”
OPL’s collection includes the latest books and materials for job seekers and online resources such as the tutor.com Career Center. Online resources are available 24 hours a day to anyone with an OPL card. Several organizations will be on-hand at the job fair to share additional resources offered to those seeking employment. Participants will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from AIM | Careerlink; National American University; Experience Works; Kaplan University; the Nebraska Department of Labor; and OPL business outreach services.
Experts from AIM | Careerlink; the Credit Advisors Foundation; ENCAP; Experience Works; Goodwill; the Nebraska Department of Labor; and OmahaJobs.com will offer workshops to help prepare for the Job Fair.
